Our Barn Comes Down
Last Of The Boards

The dumpster cut down on the number of boards we had to clean up and save.

These sills were held together with a large round peg.

This sill was so damaged we burned it in place.

Taking the roof apart left two piles of boards that needed nails removed.

The other pile of roofing boards. The chimney was in the barn. We had a wood burning stove to let us work during cold weather.

These boards didn't get saved.

One of the last boards cleaned up. It held the ends of the rafter on the east side. We found these names when we removed a piece of barn siding.

Quite a mystery. Were these the builders? Or the owners? Or a couple of lovers?

The last "nail" was this staple. We will save it and use it to hang a picture frame made from the old barn.
