The 58th Portable Surgical Hospital was activated August 15, 1943 and left Camp Ellis October 25, 1943 for India. On the way they performed an appendectomy on board a Liberty Ship. (From the Story of Camp Ellis pg. 92) In 1944 they were in Myitkyina, Burma (Link)
